Make A Difference Day is the “national day of doing good.”  It is the largest community service effort in the nation, rallying corporations, government leaders, charitable organizations and everyday Americans into action on one day.  Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine and Points of Light Foundation, Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October.  The next event is Saturday, October 25, 2008.

For the eighth consecutive year, the Volunteer Resource Center of SCV in cooperation with the City of Santa Clarita will host Make A Difference Day.  Make A Difference Day projects are “hands-on” and produce visible positive results in one day.   In 2007, over 30 volunteer projects took place benefiting organizations, such as the Gibbon Conservation Center, Carousel Ranch, Saugus School District, Boys & Girls Club of SCV, New Leash on Life, LARC Ranch, and many more!

The committee is anticipating that more than 1,000 SCV residents will participate in 40+ projects on Make A Difference Day 2008.  Business groups, religious organizations, school clubs, families and individuals are invited to participate as sponsors and volunteers.  In this way, nonprofit organizations throughout the valley benefit from the coordinated efforts of local volunteers.
